Intermediate Lab Work, Week 2

Task 1:
  • Create a blog using blogger.com and then send an email to hannahkovacs@csinow.com with a link to your blog (just copy and paste the URL fro the address bar into the email and send it to me).
  • If you already have a Blogger blog that you use *just for ESL Academy,* you can use that instead, but still send an email to hannahkovacs@csinow.com with a link to your blog.
  • If you have trouble creating a blog, go to Blogger's setup guide here.
  • If you are still having trouble, please email me and tell me the specific problem (and paste in any error messages you received)

Task 2:
  • Make a blog post on the following topic.
  • If you cannot access your blog for some reason, write the post as an email and send it to hannahkovacs@csinow.edu.
BLOG POST TOPIC:

  • Write two paragraphs (at least 5 sentences each) about the challenges faced by the characters in True Grit. Think of yourself as a narrator, describing what has happened in the movie so far to someone who has not seen it yet (but don't worry about spoilers!).
  • Make sure to write in the past tense, and try to use past simple and past progressive appropriately. Include at least one use of 'enough' and 'too,' and try to incorporate the vocabulary we have learned relating to the topic of 'challenges.'

Task 3:

Task 4:
  • Register with Free Rice  so you can keep track of how much rice you've donated by practicing English vocabulary words.
  • Once you have registered, please complete the first level (60 vocab words correct).
  • Once you have gotten 60 vocab words correct, you can keep going with Free Rice or use the rest of your lab time for extra practice with Tell Me More, American Speech Sounds, and the ESL websites listed on the right-hand side of this blog.

Thanks everyone :)

Remember that Monday the 20th is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and we won't have class. So have a great week, and I'll see you next Wednesday!
